William Tyndale

William Tyndale (c. 1494–1536) was an English scholar and translator who devoted his life to putting the Bible into the language of ordinary people. He believed that every plowboy should be able to read God’s Word for himself, not only priests and scholars. His English New Testament helped shape the language of later Bibles and inspired many reformers, even though he paid for his faithfulness with his life.
