Konrad Grebel

Konrad Grebel was a brilliant student from a wealthy and powerful family in Switzerland. He loved studying ancient languages and reading the Bible for himself. At first he worked closely with the famous church leaders in his city. However, as he read the scriptures deeper, he realized he had to follow his own conscience. He knew this choice might mean losing his close friends and his very comfortable life.

The biggest turning point came when Konrad realized that faith should be a personal choice. He believed people should only be baptized when they were old enough to understand exactly what it meant. The city leaders commanded him to stop teaching this idea, but Konrad refused to back down. On a chilly winter night in the year 1525, he gathered with a small group of brave friends, including George Blaurock. In a daring act of faith, they baptized each other in a secret living room meeting, starting a brand new movement that would change history forever.

Because he stood up for his deeply held beliefs, Konrad faced endless trouble. He was thrown into dark prisons and had to constantly travel from town to town to keep his family safe. Even though his life was short, his incredible courage left a massive impact on the world. Konrad Grebel showed everyone that true faith is a personal journey and that sometimes you have to be willing to stand alone to do what is right.
